MCCAIN WATCH: MCCAIN WANTS TO PUT MONEY IN THE POCKETS OF EXXON AND BIG OIL AT THE EXPENSE OF AN ENERGY REBATE FOR HARD-WORKING AMERICANS

West Virginians and Ohioans will welcome "Exxon John" McCain to their states today and discover that, when it comes to cash and connections, "Exxon John's" ties to Big Oil run deep. Both McCain's chief of staff and the deputy chair of the RNC are former Exxon lobbyists, and McCain received almost $55,000 in contributions from Exxon employees and Exxon's PAC. For their loyalty, "Exxon John" wants to give the oil giant a $1.2 billion tax cut, on top of the record $11.68 billion in earnings Exxon reported for the second quarter of 2008. In fact, "Exxon John's" energy "plan" would lavish the five largest American oil companies with $3.8 billion in tax cuts.
